Enjoy a guided walking tour of Bilbao and the Old Quarter where you'll see architectural landmarks ranging from a Gothic cathedral to Frank Gehry's postmodern masterpiece. Tapas and a beverage are included on this half-day excursion.
Your excursion begins at the pier as you board the shuttle bus. After a 30 minute drive you will reach the Guggenheim Museum. The organic form gives a nod to Bilbao's heritage with its suggestion of maritime shapes, sails and fish scales.
Enjoy an outside explanation of the Museum and continue on foot to the Old Quarter.
Located on the right bank of the Nervion is Bilbao's Casco Viejo or the Old Quarter. This area was restored after a devastating flood in 1983. You'll stop at St. Nicolas Church for a photo opportunity followed by tapas accompanied by wine, beer, mineral water or soft drinks at Plaza Nueva Square. Then, enjoy a guided walking tour of the Old Quarter or use the time to go shopping. Many of the streets are pedestrian-only. Stroll past the 14th-century Gothic cathedral, a stop for pilgrims traveling to Santiago de Compostela, the Arriaga Theater, the Plaza Nueva and the Bilbao Ria, which separates the old and the new city.
