Step back in time to the Victorian era on an enchanting 2-hour tour of the exclusive neighborhoods of Seal Harbor and Northeast Harbor, the last bastions of old-money wealth on Mount Desert Island. Board your executive coach, with a maximum of 14 guests, and visit the village of Seal Harbor, where many of today's celebrities have claimed the historic Victorians, the "shingle style" architecture "cottages," as their homes. Pause at the sparkling beach above Seal Harbor, home base of the Rockefeller family, passing the bucolic village green. See Little Long Pond, where the Rockefeller mansion was located. Next is quaint Northeast Harbor, where you'll view the pleasure boats in the marina and visit the downtown area with free time to explore. Then meander through that town's exclusive residential area, filled with marvelous examples of Victorian architecture from the 19th and early 20th century. Then drive down Sargent Drive, which borders Somes Sound, the only fjord on the east coast of North America. Follow an exclusive four-mile-route of scenic wonder. If time allows, visit the village of Somesville and snap a photo of the storied Monet Bridge before returning to Bar Harbor and your ship.
Special Notes:
In the latter part of the season and on Sundays, some shops in Northeast Harbor might be closed. If time allows, you might experience a visit to the charming village of Somesville.
