What you will visit:
Historic Lighthouses (seen by boat)
Built over 100 years ago, a series of lighthouses were used to safely guide ships along Maine's rugged, sometimes treacherous, shoreline and still stand as a testament to Maine's maritime history. An on-board historian will provide fascinating and fun facts about each lighthouse and historical site visited during the trip. The first lighthouse of the tour, Bear Island Light, built in 1838 on an island outside of Northeast Harbor. Other lighthouses featured include Baker Island Light, established in 1828 and Winter Harbor, built in 1856. The tour also visits the Life Saving Station on Little Cranberry Island, opened in 1880. Finally, Egg Rock Lighthouse, built in 1828 and situated in the mouth of Frenchman Bay, is home to nesting seabird birds.
What you will see along the way:
Board your jet-powered catamaran at the dock and set out to see some of Maine's most beautiful and unique lighthouses. As you gently cruise out to the sapphire blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean, you'll pass spectacular sea cliffs, pristine islands, and secluded coves. While cruising through Frenchman Bay, you'll see Porcupine Islands, which once sheltered 17th century French warships seeking refuge from the British navy, Champlain Mountain, Great Head, Thunder Hole, Sand Beach, and the famous Otter Cliffs.
