Take in Bar Harbor's stunning scenery by land and sea on this relaxing half-day excursion. As you pass a number of Victorian mansions that survived the Great Fire of 1947, your guide shares the secrets of a magnificent era when fabulously wealthy residents tried to outdo each other with lavish parties and opulent lifestyles. Next, set out on a drive along a portion of the Park Loop Road -- the main road through Acadia National Park and designated one of America's scenic byways. Step aboard the Margaret Todd, a 151-foot, four masted schooner for a relaxing sail on Frenchman Bay. Your captain will navigate the calm waters around the Porcupine Islands offering panoramic views of the seaside village of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park with Cadillac Mountain as a backdrop. Return to port.
Special Notes:
The sailing portion of the tour will vary in duration from 1½ - 1¾ hours depending on wind and weather. The schooner may be under sail and/or motor power depending on wind conditions. Tour operates rain or shineand may operate in reverse order. Dress in layers; bring a rain jacket and binoculars. Wildlife sightings are likely but are not guaranteed.Guest will need to walk approximately 5-7 minutes from the bus drop off en route to the Margaet Todd.
