Disembarkation day leaves an impression when you discover a true geological phenomenon, the Waitomo Glowworm Caves. Settle in for a relaxed, three-hour motorcoach ride to the caves, enjoying all of Auckland's spectacular natural scenery. Here, tiny glowworms unique to New Zealand emit a fluorescent blue-green radiance that illuminates the caverns and underground streams the glowworms call home. The largest chamber of the cave is known as the "Cathedral," an acoustically perfect auditorium that has hosted a number of renowned performing artists. As you embark on a short cruise in a boat through the limestone formations, your guide will share information, legends and facts about this fascinating and beautiful oddity of nature. Next, a 30-minute scenic drive to Crosshills Farm is an opportunity to meet the owners and savor a home-cooked lunch amidst a lovely English garden setting. This tour concludes at the airport.
