North Shore, home of sailboats, surfers and long, sandy beaches is the locals' escape from Auckland's hustle and bustle. Embrace its relaxed attitude with an adventure that begins with a guided tour of North Shore on the southern end of the Devonport Peninsula and ends with free time in Devonport, one of New Zealand's oldest settlements. Along the way, you'll make a photo stop at North Head, which boasts sweeping views of Auckland and its harbour and Mt. Victoria, the tallest volcano on Auckland's North Shore. Once in Devonport, you can stroll the historic streets of this storied enclave that dates back to the mid 1800s. Look for the famous Devonport chocolates sold at a family-run business, where the treats are made on the premises, and a gallery showcasing the renowned hot-glass artist Peter Raos. When it's time to return, board a ferryboat for a cruise back to Auckland.
Special Notes:
Note: No fortifications or structures remain at the historic Maori pa site on Mount Victoria. This tour departs the ship by motorcoach and returns via ferry. The walk from the downtown ferry terminal to the ship's berth is approximately 300 meters.
