Designed for the independent traveler, this excursion includes a brief, driving tour orienting you to Athens, before dropping you off in central Athens for six hours of unguided exploration. Located in front of the neo-classically designed Parliament, Syntagma Square is a central access point for many of the city's major attractions, including "museum mile," the metro station, and the National Gardens. A short walk takes you to the Plaka, the historic shopping district under the Acropolis. Its cobblestone pedestrian lanes are lined with boutiques, jewelry stores and colorful flea market stalls as well as a myriad of cafés and tavernas offering traditional Greek fare. Discover the many small museums in Plaka, including the beautiful collection in the Museum of Greek Folk Art, and the religious treasures of the Jewish Museum of Greece. Return to the designated area in time for a drive back to port.
Special Notes:
This tour is not available to passengers beginning or ending their voyage in Piraeus (Athens).Euros are required for entrance fees; Euros and/or credit cards are recommended in retail and dining venues; change your money onboard the ship or at a currency exchange in Athens.
