Aomori is known as one of the most prominent hot springs resorts in Japan. Spend the day taking part in the centuries-old tradition of "onsen" and enjoy the properties of the therapeutic waters. Please be aware that bathing suits and tattoos are not permitted and there are specific rituals that must be followed to maintain the sanctity of this communal experience. Begin with lunch inside the "ryokan," a traditional Japanese inn, then head to the soothing waters. Resting on the western side of Mt. Odake, the Sukayu Hot Spring has a history dating back to 1684, and at over 2,800 square feet, it's known for its "sen-nin-buro," or 1,000-person bath. It is important to enter the water without any splashing and to avoid conversation. As you soak in this serene environment, you'll feel a sense of calm take over, and your cares will float away. Refreshed, return to port.
Special Notes:
No tattoos accepted. No photo inside hot spring.Required to follow bathing rules at hot spring bath: no cloth/towel/swim suits accepted. Only the yukata (bathrobe) is allowed to be worn.
This tour is not recommended for guests with walking difficulties.
Main bath at Sukayu Onsen is gender mixed bathing (turbid hot springs, changing area is gender separated, small gender separated bath is also available). The floor of bath area is very slippery.
Guests with a history of high blood pressure, heart problems, skin problems cannot participate on this tour; a medical release must be completed prior to participation. If guests have a fever, malignant tumor, cancer, tuberculosis, dizzy or any other relevant condition, please refrain from onsen experience.
The tour order many vary.

Hakkoda area is closed due to heavy snow for winter season as bus cannot access.
