One night a year is reserved for this incredible spectacle, combining the historic floats of the Aomori Nebuta with a celebratory fireworks display. If you are visiting during August, on the final festival night, don't miss this unforgettable event. A reserved seat enables you to see the action as the extravagant floats, which measure up to 29 feet long and 16 feet tall, are placed in boats and ferried around Aomori Bay. Each float is more impressive than the next, depicting gods, mythical creatures and historical figures. The floats are illuminated by Nebuta lanterns, measuring as high as 26 feet and as wide as 49 feet. As dusk approaches, the lanterns are lit, and their glow brightens as darkness falls. To add even more color and excitement, the sky fills with a dazzling fireworks display that closes the yearly festivities with a bang.
