Engage in an immersive cultural experience and assist some enterprising women on this impactful day. Board a motorcoach for a 40-minute ride from port to Altamira and the Chocal-a Cacao, Women's Chocolate Cooperative. Here, you'll discover a tiny organic-chocolate factory run by a group of local women committed to earning while remaining close to their families. You will have the opportunity to participate in the cocoa production cycle, learning about planting and cultivating the organic cacao trees and preparing the raw materials. Then you will help produce and package the chocolate bars that are sold. Assist at several work stations to gain a broader experience. At the completion of this rewarding day, bid good-bye to the friendly local women who appreciate your support. This tour is produced in partnership with Fathom Travel's cruise with a purpose initiative, offering an incredible opportunity to both enjoy a relaxing vacation experience and give back to the local community.
Special Notes:
Minimum age required to participate is 8 years old. Activity takes place both indoor (inside chocolate factory) and outdoor (at cacao trees nursery). Comfortable clothes and closed toes shoes recommended, bring sunscreen, sunglasses, cap, umbrella or rain poncho, cash for souvenir.Details
