Paddle your way through a Manatee Reserve and spend the day exploring the home of these gentle creatures currently on the endangered list. Board your transportation at the pier for a ride to the protected nature reserve. Once you arrive, you'll board your kayak and embark on a leisurely expedition. Zigzag through a swamp of mahogany, royal palm, and mangrove plants and navigate between two lakes in search of manatees. Keep your camera handy to snap shots of brown pelicans, royal terns and frigate birds. Soon, up to 40 manatees may gracefully glide around the kayak. There are currently very few places in the Caribbean where you can see the manatee in its natural habitat. In fact; the manatee is hunted for its meat in some areas of the Caribbean and the reserve's conservation efforts are helping the population to thrive and survive. Later, enjoy a beachside lunch before returning to Amber Cove.
