Explore the striking contrast between Alexandria's historic landmarks and its contemporary architecture on this narrated, city tour. Visit the medieval Fort Qaitbey, built by Sultan Qaitbey in the 15th century to defend Egypt against the threat of the Turks. Fort Quitbey occupies a narrow peninsula and was built on the ruins of the Pharos lighthouse, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Continue to experience the rich history of the area as you tour The Roman Amphitheater, which stands in the center of Alexandria. Despite its location in the modern section of the city, you can imagine yourself in ancient times when sitting on one of the amphitheater's marble platforms.
