Get to know the country and its people a little better with a must-see visit to two fun and fascinating attractions in the picturesque village of Siglufjördur. This stirring full-day tour begins with a lovely drive from Akureyri to Héðinsfjörður, the country's northernmost fjord. Then, enjoy a photo stop before continuing on to Siglufjördur, once the busiest herring port in the country. Learn its history with a tour of the Herring Era Museum, Iceland's largest seafaring and industrial museum. At the conclusion of your tour, you're invited to sample rye bread, herring and Icelandic schnapps. At the end of the day, you'll reboard your coach and return to your ship along the same scenic route. Before we head back to Akureyri, we tour the Folk Music Center and learn about Reverend Bjarni's work in collecting and preserving the country's musical heritage. The Centre offers a chance to see and hear Icelandic musical instruments from centuries past and the performance of traditional Icelandic folk songs and rhymes.
